About the Author

Scott Burgess, also known as Scotty B, is a dairyland native from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. So yeah, he’s naturally cheezy – hence the animated picture. He says it makes him look younger, and he believes the dairy hair makes him look hip. Anywhey, shortly after high school Scott ventured out west to attend Arizona State University where he was introduced to an obscure major called Performance Studies (interpretation of literature). It fit intuitively better than marketing.

After college he set out to fulfill his creative dreams with the prophetic words of Henry David Thoreau echoing in his head: “How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.”

That mindset led Scott from Arizona to Los Angeles and then to Chicago, where he paid the bills by working at the legendary House of Blues music venue. Fun. And although he looked fit as a fiddle, he was fighting constant fatigue, along with chronic pain – it altered his life. Yet he pushed onward, moving back west to beautiful San Diego, California where he again focused on a creative career. Unfortunately, his health issues eventually forced him back to Fond du Lac.

The silver lining is, his creative mind was sharper than ever, and he now had time to do what he’s always wanted to do – write and illustrate a chilren’s novel, as well as writing the screenplay. So he did. However, his ill-health rendered him a rather unwitting recluse, but he persevered with the help of an old friend along with these words from J.R.R Tolkien: “Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate.” And that friend, Chuck Colby, is now his partner in Colby-Scott, LLC.

Hooray for new roads!
